About Us
The Arrowtarian Senior Citizens Society, a beacon of hope and community, proudly owns and operates the Rotary Villa complex in the picturesque town of Nakusp, British Columbia. Established as a non-profit society in 1967, our journey began with a vision to provide affordable senior housing for the cherished residents of Nakusp. This vision became a reality when Phase I was unveiled in 1971. Since then, we have continually expanded, evolving into a vital source of support for independent individuals aged 55 and over, with low to moderate incomes.

Our Story
In 1965, a dedicated group of Rotarians recognized a pressing need for affordable senior housing within Nakusp, a town nestled beside the tranquil waters of the Arrow Lakes. Thus, the Arrowtarian Senior Citizens Society was born – "Arrow" symbolizing the beautiful Arrow Lakes and "Rotarian" an homage to the Rotary Club. In 1967, the society was formally incorporated, marking the genesis of our unwavering commitment to the senior citizens of Nakusp.

Over the span of five decades, the Arrowtarian Society has emerged as a pillar of the community, bringing to life a total of 52 housing units across five distinct phases. Our initial three phases were brought to fruition in partnership with BC Housing. The journey began with Phase I in 1971, comprising 11 units. It was a labor of love, with 900 hours of volunteer work and generous financial support from individuals, local organizations, and businesses. Phase II followed in 1978, offering 8 more units, and Phase III in 1982, adding 10 units to our blossoming community.

The saga continued as Phase IV came into existence in 2009, introducing 14 additional units to our complex. Most recently, in 2021, we celebrated the successful completion of Phase V, providing 9 more units to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in Nakusp.

Our Mission
At the Arrowtarian Senior Citizens Society, our mission remains steadfast: to offer low-cost and affordable housing options that enable senior citizens to live independently and comfortably in a safe, supportive, and vibrant community. We take pride in being a driving force behind the well-being of our cherished senior residents, and we look forward to continuing our journey with the same determination, passion, and commitment that have defined our society for over five decades.
